Why You (Might) Need These Mason Jar Lids

It’s finally here! The review nobody asked for! Haha

I honestly love both reading and writing really in-depth reviews about random products that don’t necessarily require an in-depth review, so here you go! (p.s. I’m including my Amazon affiliate link in this post so I may make a small commission at no cost to you if you decide to purchase. Just a heads up!)

If you’re unfamiliar, Kook lids are one-piece instead of the classic mason jar lid/ring combo. This makes things soooo easy when you use a lot of mason jars for non-canning purposes. (It should be noted that the Kook jar lids are NOT for canning.) I know it sounds crazy… but I can’t tell you how much of a luxury using these lids feels like! It’s so nice to be able to not have to juggle the two pieces when I’m just tryin’ to get to the sugar, dammit. I store all of my dry goods/diy beauty products/homemade elderberry syrup/bone broth/what-have-you in mason jars for -aesthetic- and I open about a bajillion of these lids every day.

I bought these lids in the color gold for both my wide mouth and regular mouth jars. I seriously love them! Gold is so much more “me” than silver, so it’s nice that they match the rest of my kitchen. It’s the little things!

And truly, aren’t the little things what make a big difference? I have only recently started learning how to be ok with buying unnecessary convenience items for myself, but I am loving the way it makes me feel. It's nice to look in my kitchen and see something that makes me happy instead of something make-do. There’s this weird culture of extreme frugality in homemaking and you’re made to feel like you have to explain every single thing you do or buy. I hate that! All it does is hold up shame culture. So I guess in my own way, these silly little mason jar lids are a small act of self-acceptance and rebellion. Also, they’re just really cool lids.

So if you use a lot of mason jars for non-canning purposes like me, I say give these a try! You might just get a highly existential experience out of it!
